Our chefs come from Urfa in south-east Türkiye, and our grill follows Urfa cooking. Kebabs, liver and aubergine cook over charcoal and come with isot, the Urfa chilli.

About us
Damak Ocakbasi is a Turkish grill house. The meat cooks over charcoal, and the chefs prepare it by hand.
With every main course you get the side dishes: shepherd's salad, cacık, spinach tarator, ezme, hummus and grilled onion. A takeaway order gets the same.
Hand-Chopped Lamb Kebab (Haşhaş Kebab)
A speciality of Birecik, Urfa
We chop the lamb and the peppers by hand with a knife, never with a machine. A machine makes the meat watery. Over the charcoal the kebab stays loose and crumbly, like bulgur, so you eat it with a spoon.
Our chefs say it is new to London.
Aubergine Kebab (Patlıcan Kebabı)
Aubergine kebab from Urfa
Aubergine and hand-chopped minced lamb on the skewer, cooked over charcoal. We serve it with grilled tomatoes and peppers.

In Urfa, people eat liver even for breakfast. We cut it small, grill it over charcoal and serve it with lavash, grilled onion and isot.

Our chefs
Kadir Usta and Mahmut Usta
Kadir Usta leads the grill and prepares the meat himself. His nephew Mahmut Usta came to Britain at 16, learned at his side, and has worked the charcoal grill for 13 years. They cook the dishes of Urfa.
